Release Management client does not start RRS feed

  • Hello,

    I have installed Release Management Client for Visual Studio 2013, Update 4 (the latest version for RM Client).

    After the installation completed successfully, when I clicked on the "Launch" button, the Client never started.

    I tried to uninstall, repair nothing worked for me.

    If another user logs into my system, they can launch release management successfully.

    When I tried to repair the existing installation, it stops with an error for "Visual Studio Minimum Shell Core".

    Here is an excerpt from the error log file:

    What needs to be done to resolve this issue?

  • I solved this by removing all the files that existed in the following folder:

    C:\Users[my user name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation\ReleaseManagementConsole._StrongName_x5pjssdhilxecxumty4fc2wj50dqoakc\12.0.0.0

    My user profile might have been corrupted, resulting in this failure.

    When I look at the event logs in my computer I saw RM Client failing with this error:

    Faulting application name: ReleaseManagementConsole.exe, version: 12.0.21031.1, time stamp: 0x5272753c

    Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.2.9200.16864

    Thanks for posting here.

    After you finished the installation and clicked the launch, did you get any error message or did you see the dialog to let you input the server name and port number?

    You may have a try to uninstall the RM client and restart the system, then reinstall it.

  • Hello,

    When I click on the "Launch" button after a successful installation nothing happens.

    The release management client does not open.

    I have uninstalled Release Management, restarted the system and re-installed.

    None of these worked for me.
