VSO build error - prerequisites must be signed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a build definition which fails with the following error;

     ##[error]C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\14.0\bin\Microsoft.Common.CurrentVersion.targets(3506,5): Error MSB3188: Assembly 'C:\agent\_work\9\s\XXXX\YYYYYY\bin\UAT\RestSharp.dll' must be strong signed in order to be marked as a prerequisite.

    Whilst (I believe) I understand the issue - it seems that RestSharp.dll is not signed - I'm concerned in that when I build the project on my local machine, I don't see the issue.

    As I understand it, if it builds locally, then the dll in question must be present in the GAC, which means that it must be signed, which means the above shouldn't happen. (I'm also not sure of the implication of the part "to be marked as a prerequisite" - never seen that before)

    Anyone shed any light on this?

  • Hi there - thanks for your reply,

    The issue actually turned out to be a mismatched package versions problem. I had project A using a nuget package at version 1.0, A had a project dependency to project B, which was using v 1.1 of the same package.

    Sorting out both A & B to use v1.1 fixed the problem
