An attempt has been made to operate on an impersonation token by a thread that is not currently impersonating a client RRS feed

  • Question

  • I receive this error when trying to instantiate a form and have not been able to correct. Any useful advice welcome. I see other post from DBAs creating clusters, this is nothing like that. This is a desktop app and does not occur when user runs app, this occurs when app is run from a service. Service runs under local 'System' Account.

  • If no other possibilities, the alternative to this limitation is to start the Forms application separately (maybe automatically), but without displaying any form, and to organise a communication with the service. When services signals some events, the application displays the form [https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/12a17645-fa5e-4ed8-ad1d-ae1d541730cf].

  • Hi cunelson3,

    Thank you for posting here.

For the error message, it means only impersonation threads can call a service to create a new object without supplying a security token.

According to the MSDN document, it suggests user to contact the supplier of the running application.

Here is the MSDN document for your reference.

    Best Regards,
