Customization of status manager field in projects RRS feed

  • Question

  • About the status manager field what i have learned so far is that we can't delegate the responsibility to a single person to add or edit the said field. The only available options in the dropdown for Status Manager will be the person logged into the project at the time, and any person that is set somewhere within the project at least once as a "Status Manager".

My question is that can we code and customize MS Project professional 2007 so that a single person may change the status manager in the project and can make another person(who has never opened the project or is not a status manager of any task in the project) the status manager for a task?

  • Hello Yasmeen,

    Your understanding is correct.

We know that there are few limitations of PSI based on the desgin so as far as I know this does not appear to be any facility within the publically
documented portion of the PSI to alter the Status Manager of a task. Also, Assuming that the functionality of the PSI is consistent with the
functionality of PWA, setting either yourself or another as Project Owner will not alter the Status Manager of any existing tasks.

    Hope that helps.
