A question about making a 2D Simple metro game using Javascript

  • I use to work a lot with XNA and Java based development. I want to get started with Metro Game Development and DirectX with C++ seems to be the main tool and language that is advertised.  For a 2D game it seemed like a bit overkill, but any mention of games with HTML5 and Javascript with Metro seem to focus around  the bouncing ball game while most talk of game dev go around DirectX and C++.  Is there something inherently wrong with using Javascript for a 2D Metro game?  If so, are there any alternatives to native C++ development , or is that the best bet?
