While debugging KM driver can we edit or modify driver's input values or data in VS 2012? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello ,

    As VS2012 is completely able for KM driver debug and development.
    So can we edit or modify KM driver's input values or data while debugging it.

    My concern is that, Can we directly insert input data or values into KM driver
    while debugging it, which usually comes from other KM or UM driver.

    This can provide great help for professionals, like me. As because while running
    my both UM & KM driver simultaneously most of the time coming into end with BSOD.

    So again going back to source code commenting it and then trying .

    Suggest Your Opinion.

  • It depends on what you mean by directly insert input data.  There is no mechanism for creating an IRP and calling a driver.  If you mean changing a value of a variable, that is definitely supported.

    You mentioned BSOD's, once you get to that point all you can do is reboot the test system after analyzing the error.

  • Yeh Sir, you are right.

    Actually I want to use this VS 2012 intermediate debugger engine for inserting the IRP values

    while debugging KM drivers;

    which usually comes from UM driver for KM driver, like Read Buffer, Write Buffer and IO controls

    values.
