Command-line installation of HCK Client... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

    I'm doing command-line installation of the HCK Client, sometimes all the applications like .net client profile, verifier, etc. which are part of HCK Client installation, get installed properly but sometimes some are not installed.

    What can be done so that HCK Client installtion using command-line will install everything at all the time.

    Thanks,

    Nilesh.

  • From our published online HELP for HCK, we have the supported installation command line for HCK Client, using this method should install all of the bundled/required prerequisites for HCK Client.

    If you are using these command lines already, we would be interested in better understanding more specifics around what item is not getting installed and for what operating system.  Please also share all of the logs with us in the event of a failure;

    Thanks.

  • As I see, when I install HCK client manually, following applications are installed:

    Application Verifier package [win7/8]

    WDTF Runtime [win7/8]

    WHCK Client [win7/8]

    WPTx[86|64] [win7/8]

    .Net Frame. Client Profile [win7 only]

    .Net Frame. Extended [win7 only]

    But when I install using the command line, most of the time it is WHCK client which is not installed.

    Thanks,
    Nilesh

  • From the link I provided earlier, the only supported installation command line for HCK Client is below;

         To install the Windows HCK Client (Unattended)

         \\HCKController\HCKInstall\Client\setup.exe /qn ICFAGREE=Yes

    Could you please confirm what command line you are using to install HCK Client?

  • Hi steve,

    I'm using the same command you have provided.

    As I mentioned before, it happens sometimes. I'll post a snapshot when I come across this problem next time.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

    I have ran into this issue again.

    The driver I want to test is a firewall driver, it needs firewall ON while testing, so before installing HCK client I am enabling firewall, then runing following command to install HCK client:

    \\HCKController\HCKInstall\Client\setup.exe /qn ICFAGREE=Yes

    In this, supporting applications such as WPT, application verifier, .net framework, etc. are being installed properly but "Windows hardware certification kit client" is not being installed, I dont know whether it is firewall issue or something else. If I install it manually, everything installs properly.

    The other drivers, which do not require firewall ON, disabling firewall allows HCK client installation properly.

    Please help.

    I have the client logs, please let me know where to attach or post them here.

    Thanks,

    Nilesh
