I've got sharepoint administration running on another web site and several window services listening for tcp connections on ports OTHER THAN 80.

Did you manage to resolve this?
The very same thing happened to me last night directly after a windows update. Uninstalling "Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB980436)" fixed the problem for me, I hope that helps you.

We have had this sometimes on 1 of our windows 2003 servers. A couple of weeks ago I thought i fixed it by uninstalling KB980436. Today when the server restarted (aut. updates) the problem came back but we have hidden update KB980436 so it is not installed. I could not resolve this directly and restarted the server. After the restart all the sites were running again. Still i don't know what causes this and would like to resolve.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
