  • Question

  • Hi All. If anybody here has used game maker and its room viewing properties before, you would understand most of about my question, but everyone is welcome.

I am wanting to have a room (graphics window) with a large 2-D space. The actual part you can 'view' of the graphics window I want to be smaller. From there, I want to be able to change the view of the graphics window to maybe one corner of the graphics window 2-D space and then maybe to another part here and there.

Here is an image to help you visualise.

Can this be done, at least to some effect?

Thanks all for your answers or advice in advance,

    Anthony :)

  • Do you mean you want a large image, sitting behind some sort of mask, and you want the masked area to move?

If so, here's one way: XST148

The mask image is a png with a transparent area, loaded as a shape on top of the background image. You can move shapes around, so you can move the "hole"

  • Not quite. The part you can see as indicated in the blue is all that you can see, but the room is actually bigger than that square. I want to have a graphics window which is big, but only a part of it is visible at any one time.

It is a bit difficult to understand, so allow me another question.

Is it possible to make a scrollbar in SmallBasic? That would be useful.
