For small disks, do HDD disks have better performance than SSD and Premium disks? RRS feed

  • Question

  • According to the documentation:

HDD disks between S4 and S50

IOPS per disk: Up to 500.

Throughput per disk: Up to 60 MiB/sec

    SSD disks E4

IOPS per disk: Up to 120.

Throughput per disk: Up to 25 MiB/sec

    Premium SSD P4

IOPS per disk: Up to 120.

Throughput per disk: Up to 25 MiB/sec

A P10 (128gb) Premium disk or a E60 (8192gb) SSD disk would be needed to get better performance than a HDD disk?

  • Hello,

Yes, for smaller disk size the Standard HDD gives better performance.

As the disk size increases, then premium disks provide good performance. So for smaller premium disk sizes the performance may be lower than the standard disks.
