how to enable networking / internet in virtual box?

Question

I have win8 preview running in oracles virtual box.

does anyone know how I can get networking / internet working....

I have tried a few of the adapters in the list.

Normally it's the standard network adapter where it's on, it will depend on your setup.

You should set the network adapter in Virtual Box to Bridged vs. Nat if you want to test out networking with your home network.
This should allow you to be able to reach the Internet.
