CoreCon API, remote deployment and debugging on Windows 8 ? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi there,

On my previous experiences with Windows CE, mobile and phone 7 we used to be able to communicate with a windows device through CoreCon API to automate remote test tools on device. As far as I know there is no public announcement for such an API in Windows 8.

Is MSFT planning to implement this feature in Win 8, at least for tablets?

Is it possible to deploy / debug apps with Visual Studio on a Win 8 target? I mean without installing Visual Studio on the target.

    Thanks & regards,

  • Hi Edward,

As we discussed in the Touch and Ink forum, Visual Studio supports remote deploy and debug of Metro style apps on other Windows 8 systems without installing Visual studio on the target.

For your questions about test tools and about API to drive Visual Studio debugging, please post in the Visual Studio forums.
