Storage::KnownFolders::PicturesLibrary->Path returns null RRS feed

  • Question

  • If I try to get the Path of the PicturesLibrary I get a null result, but if I get a sub-folder of it, I can get the path.  Is that a bug?  My current workaround is to grab a sub-folder, get the path, then walk up one level.

    Regards, Guy

  • This is expected. The libraries are shell items combining a collection of folders, not individual file system directories. Since they aren't file system items they don't have paths. In most cases the libraries collect several different folders at their root (for example your personal pictures and public pictures).

    Grabbing a sub-folder, getting the path, and walking up one level will find part of the library but probably won't find the whole thing.
