What is Microsoft Silverlight supposed to do about SmallBasic? RRS feed

  • Question

  • All SmallBasic program's pages (like these from smallbasic.com: http://smallbasic.com/program/?SOKO) show me a install button for Microsoft Silverlight:

Should it make it possible to run the program from browser? (I always thought so) Otherwise what's it supposed to do? I have it installed and it seems not to be working. I'm using Chrome.

    Thank you.

  • Silverlight only works in Internet Explorer (Not Edge, Chrome or Firefox) I think.  Of course you need to install it first.

It's not working on Internet Explorer too.

Maybe I need to have SmallBasic installed so it works?

  • Don't think you need SB installed, that's the point of a Browser version.  Perhaps test Silverlight is working and browser set up to allow it.  I don't think I did anything special but you may find something googling Silverlight.

I believe there is going to be a replacement for Silverlight for future SB versions so it can be run in a browser.

  • Hi,

You might need to enable Silverlight plugin to be enabled .

    Goto Tools>Manage add-ons

You will now see a dialog box.

In the show combo box select 'all add-ons'

Make sure that you have Microsoft Silverlight plugin enabled if not, then see the following site. If can't see Microsoft Silverlight plugin in manage add-ons dialog box, You need to Re-Install Silverlight.

  • Hi,

You can also use ABYTY Browser (works in all browsers). http://abyty.com/

Right click, then on search bar type 'http://www.smallbasic.com/program/?SOKO'

    Thanks,

Ok. It doesn't have Microsoft Silverlight there.

I am confused with the 32bits / 64bits versions of both M. Silverlight and Internet Explorer. My computer is 64bits, Windows 10.

I read online that I can find IE 32bits in C:\Program Files (x86)\ and 64bits in C:\ProgramFiles\. I have IE files in both locations, so I should have both 32 and 64bits, right?

I am also not sure if I should install Silverlight 32bits or 64bits.

Should the versions of IE and Silverlight match in some way? Which version of Silverlight should I install? Thanks.

    Hi,

I installed Microsoft Silverlight in 64-Bit version and I have windows 10.

The latest version of Microsoft Silverlight is 5.

    Open Control Panel-->Programs-->Programs and Features

If you see Microsoft Silverlight under Microsoft Corporation (Publisher) then it means you have it.

Since, it's not working for you, You can try uninstalling it and downloading it again from here.

If you don't have it then install the latest version from here = https://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/

After Installing, Open Internet Explorer and Goto  http://smallbasic.com/program/?SOKO

    Thanks,

I reinstalled it and still doesn't show up on IE, but it does on Control Panel.

  • Smallbasic with silverlight works with the smallbasic web-browser :D

It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'" Romans 14:11
