VS2015 crash when I'm offline

  • When I'm connected to the internet, VS2015 works fine, but if I'm offline and I start VS2015, it crashes a few seconds after startup. I dont even have to load a solution, and it will crash.

    I can easily reproduce this by turning on airplane mode and starting VS2015.

    I also notice that starting VS2015, then turning on airplane mode will *not* crash it.

  • Hi Mark S_

    Please check the ActiveLog.xml under the path of %AppData%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\14.0. This file will log all operations when you operate Visual Studio.

    If you don't have the ActiveLog.xml, please turn on the /Log switch with command "Devenv /log Path\NameOfLogFile". Then operate your Visual Studio again.

    Do you have connected to any source control? If yes, please disconnect the connection. In addition, please disable the customer feedback component. Find this registry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\Packages\{2DC9DAA9-7F2D-11d2-9BFC-00C04F9901D1}" and rename it to something invalid "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\Packages\Disabled-{2DC9DAA9-7F2D-11d2-9BFC-00C04F9901D1}

    Best Regards,
