  • Hi Krishna--

    Please see below technet article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg314583.aspx

Some PWA Web Parts require the Project Web App Server ribbon to be on the page in order to use them. If the Web Part has a ribbon dependency and the Web Part is added to a non-Project Web App site collection, the ribbon feature must be enabled on the target site collections.

To enable the ribbon feature on a site

    1. On the site on which you want to enable the ribbon, click the Site Actions menu, and then click Site Settings.

    2. On the Site Settings page, in the Site Collection Administration section, click Site Collection Features.

    3. On the Site Collection Administration-Features page, find Project Web App Ribbon and then click the Activate button to the right of it.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hi Krishna,

As per the article, You can have the ribbon feature for the mentioned webparts only. If you have the custom webpart, the ribbon will not get the context so you will not be able to have it enabled.

You may need to modify the ribbon in sharepoint? Just to understand In what context you add the custom webpart ?

    Thanks,

  • If this is just to display, Do you need to have the any inbuilt functionality like My tasks (Out of box webpart). If you use the My tasks web part, It should work withing the same farm (refer to below article)without any issue based on the user login, She/he can view the tasks to update the progress.

I am sorry but in custom webpart , you will need to customize the ribbon.

    Hope that helps.
