Media Foundation Attributes and Geotagging RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I hope this is a simple question:
Does anyone know if there is a presentation descriptor attribute that will allow me to stamp in my own custom metadata?  I'm particularly interested in storing GPS information.

When I looked at the attributes, I can see some similarities to what is seen in the photo EXIF format, but although there are time/date stamps and such, there's no capability for us to geotag.

    Many thanks,

  • Presentation descriptor attributes are not committed to disk; any changes would only apply to that particular instance of the presentation descriptor.  If you want to store metadata back to the file, I would recommend the shell APIs, specifically IShellItem2, IShellItem2::GetPropertyStore, and IPropertyStore.  I do not know of any shell property keys that correspond specifically to geotag information, but you might be able to store what you need in the semi-generic PKEY_Comment field.
