ReportServer delivers the Report really slow!! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey there.

    Perfomance is everything!!

I've got a new problem. Reporting Services got really slow.
    The complete RS-System slowed down.

Even for navigating thru the folders you need a lot of time on ReportServer (not ReportManager)
Going on folder-depht deeper you have to wait 40 seconds
With this, the complete report rendering is slow, because in our programm we show the report in PDF. We get the output via WebService.

The Rendering-, DataRetrieving-, Processing-Times in DB    ReportServer.ExecutionLog   are really fast. For one execution perhapes 4 seconds, but normally we have to wait for the report about 2 minutes.

I'm sure the problem has something to do with the ReportServer. Our DB-Admin limited the ApplicationPool to the following:

Recycle WorkerProcess at 06:30 and 13:00
    Max virtual mem 1500MB
    Max used mem 512MB
Shutdown WP afert idle time   1440min
Kernel reques queue limit to 4000requests
    Max CPU usage 80%
    Refresh CPU usage 10min
    Max number of WP 2
    Ping WP every 30sec
    Rapid-fail protection 5 failures in 5 min

    Our Server
    2.7 GH pentium Pro
    4096 MB RAM
    Windows NT 5.2 SP2

Whats the problem of this configuration?
    Thanks for any help.

Answers

  • The problem was, the configurations/limitations of the AppPool was to strict so it couldnt render the reports that fast.
