Can't add a reference RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm writing my 1st metro app using LiveSDK.

I've created C# Metro style app, but when I try to add the reference to Microsoft.Live, I can't find it under Windows->Extension (as described here - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/hh533834).

When I tried to add this reference manually (because I can find the Dlls under C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Live\v5.0\Metro XAML\References\Debug), I get a message saying "A reference to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Live\v5.0\Metro XAML\References\Debug\Neutral\Microsoft.Live.dll" could not added. The project targets '.NETCore' while the file reference targets '.NETFramework'. this is not a supported senario."

What am I doing wrong ?

    Thanks.

  • The Live SDK available off of http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=28195 only works on Windows Developer Preview. There will be an update to the Live SDK in tandem with the public release of Windows Consumer Preview. Developers who have legitimate access to Windows Consumer Preview such as winners of the Windows 8 First Apps Contest can have their contacts at Microsoft reach out to Deepesh Mohnani or myself to get preview access to the next version of the Live SDK.

  • Hey,

I'm seeing the same issue, tried reinstalling the SDK but to no avail.

What did you reinstall to resolve it? VS?

    Thanks!

  • I'm having the same problem adding a reference to the Live SDK v5.0.3069.1128.  I'm using the Windows 8 Consumer Preview and am trying to build the SkyPad sample.

  • Hi,

I'm having the same problem - adding reference to Live sdk v 5.0 downloaded from  http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=28195.

I'm using Win 8 Developer Preview 5 (build 8229) and the Visual Studio express.

Could you tell me which Win8 version supports referencing the SDK?

    Thanks!
