SQL Server - Secure connection options RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Everyone

We would like to automate and external autosys scheduled job which connects to SQL Server and runs backups as the SQL admin account.

The autosys account does not currently exist on SQL Server. Without having to create a new account we just want the connection to switch user to the SQL Server service account and run the command without compromising the password. As the SQL Server service account is a domain account not sure how to encrypt the password externally and run.

What options are there to connect in as the SQL Admin account and execute the backup command. Please advise of SQL Server options that we could use such as runas / certificates etc.

    Thanks

  • Change the job owner in autosys to the SQL Server Service Account.

  • That requires the password to be captured. Are there other options?
