Best Design Tool when long term maintenance and support is considered. RRS feed

  • Question

  • A green field Database design scenario.

We plan to use entity framework.

So we can use EF- Data modeler or use Data Designer in SQL manager.

On the face of it the tools looks fairly similar.

I was wondering if there we clear benefits or negatives of using one over the other especially when the full life cycle of Code/Model/DB support is considered.

Noting , the DB structure from initial product release will grow.

So there is potentially a  migration to consider.

I would add we dont have a DBA, just architects and coders,

so I will be doing the DBA work.

Im happy to read  links if this is well known.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
