Spacing between controls in ribbon RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everybody,
    I'm having a problem with the positioning and especially the spacing with two dropdown controls in my ribbon control. When you look at a built-in outlook ribbon (left rectangle) you see that there is a vertical spacing between the controls "Show As" and "Reminder" - but in my case it seems that there is no spacing at all between the both controls (see left rectangle, spacing between "Task" and "Expense"):
    My XML definition looks as the following:
     <contextualTabs>
          <tabSet idMso="TabSetAppointment">
            <tab idMso="TabAppointment" >
              <group  id="groupPost" >
                  <dropDown id="dropDownTask"
                           getItemID="DropDownTaskOnGetItemId"
                           imageMso="ExchangeFolder"
                           label="Task"
                           sizeString="AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
                           getEnabled="DropDownTaskOnGetEnabled"
                           getItemCount="DropDownTaskOnGetItemCount"
                           getItemLabel="DropDownTaskOnGetItemLabel"
                           getSelectedItemID="DropDownTaskOnGetSelectedItemId"/>
                  <dropDown id="dropDownExpense"
                          getItemID="DropDownExpenseOnGetItemId"
                          imageMso="GroupShapeDesign"
                          sizeString="AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
                          label="Expense"
                          getEnabled="DropDownTaskOnGetEnabled"
                          getItemCount="DropDownExpenseOnGetItemCount"
                          getItemLabel="DropDownExpenseOnGetItemLabel" />
                <button id="ButtonSynchronize2"
                 size="large"
                 label="Synchronize"
                 imageMso="Synchronize"
                 onAction="ButtonSynchronizeOnAction" />
              </group>
            </tab>
          </tabSet>
        </contextualTabs>
    Is there any possibillity to manage the spacing between the controls or even use a standard spacing so that it looks similiar to the other ribbons in office.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank in advance and best regards,
    Marko

  • Hi Marfei

    I'm going to assume this is 2010 we're talking about, since the Ribbon is relatively new for Outlook and not fully implemented in 2007...

    The only possibility you have to change vertical spacing is in 2010, using the attribute centerVertically="true" as part of the GROUP definition. So <group  id="groupPost"  centerVertically="true" >

  • Hi Cindy,

    thank you very much for your reply. Yes I'm using Office 2010 but unfortunately your answer didn't solve my problem. Since it seems that there is no other solution regarding my problem I have to find a workaround - I let you know when I found something.

    Cheers,
