Bluetooth stack behavior with multiple SPP devices when one device goes out of range RRS feed

  • We ship a system with 2 internally developed SPP devices and we've noticed an odd behavior which happens when you begin to have a communications drop with one device.  When this occurs oftentimes the other data channel communication will stop (link loss on device A causes data to stop on device B).

    This will happen even if you move the communication into independent applications (app A talks to device A, app B talks to device B).

    We've noticed this behavior either using the COM port interface or the 32feet library, which leads me to the conclusion that something deeper is going on.   This seems to happen across a variety of BT adapters an dongles, and on Windows 7 and 8.1.

    We've also seen issues on Win 8.1 where the customer is forced to delete and restore pairing to reconnect after a communications loss.

    My questions are:  1)  Is this a known issue with BT radios in general?  2) Is there any way to prevent this from happening by opening the port differently, setting timeouts, etc.  3) has anyone else noticed this issue?
