Downloading Windebug RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Where can I download Windebug from? google  and previous answers on this forum points me at "Download and Install Debugging Tools for Windows"

     http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg463009.aspx

but that only seems to support windows 8! I'd really like something for XP. If microsoft won't support this anymore does anyone else have a copy? Preferably without having todownload an entire SDK...

    thanks!

  • did you atleast glance through th page you posted a link for ?

are you sure you didnt notice the big letters where it claims you can download a standalone version ??

are you sure you clicked that link and still fail to get the debugger alone ??

may be you should click the link you posted scroll down a bit and read a bit

anyway even the old win7 wdk wont download the whole sdk if you instist on installing debugger alone

    just download the web installer

uncheck every thing except debugger and clcik ok

it will install the debugger alone and wont get you the whole sdk / wdk

  • oh goody a sarky response!

    > did you atleast glance through th page you posted a link for ?

yes. Post here isn't less effort than reading a web page. Perhaps I missed something but I did look.

    > are you sure you didnt notice the big letters where it claims you can download a standalone version ??

    yes!!

    > are you sure you clicked that link and still fail to get the debugger alone ??

I followed the line and in big letters it says:- "Windows Software Development Kit (SDK) for Windows 8 Consumer Preview" that doesn't sound to me like a link to a standalone XP compatible WinDebug. Did you read my post?

maybe. Did you read the page?

that looks like the same page...

  • Did you read the page?

sure and my response above is still valid

take a few minutes to read the page

if you cant decipher how to get a standlaone debugger from an official  page that says download this for standalone package

    you arent ripe for debugging

  • I feell ike I'm missing something.

When I go to the page it seems to be about Windows 8.

Will the package on this page still work with XP?

I suppose I could give it go. But the page talks about a pre-release of windows 8 and sounds pretty experimental. All posts seem to ignore what I'm asking.

Am I ready to debug?- I've used Windebug but where I work there's a Windebug executable floating about, I thought downloading the proper package would be a good idea.

Thanks that seems to be just what i wanted!

Quite why other people have to quite so snotty I don't understand!

And I'm still baffled as to why the page was apparently all about Windows 8 (has it even been released yet?). Were we all looking at the same page!?
