  • After uninstalling version 0.8, I installed version 0.9.

This "Saved as" screen shows *.smallbasic

However, the file saved is with the name OK.sb.

I want to ask whether it is normal. Thanks.

Afterwards, I uninstalled version 0.9, then installed version 0.9 again. , the same thing happened.

  • BASIC-beginner, this looks like a bug.  I must have messed up somewhere.

Currently both .sb and .smallbasic are recognized by Small Basic, but it looks like Small Basic uses .sb as a preferred extension.

  • Try this:

    1.Open OK.sb with Notepad

    2.Copy All text in notepad

3.Paste all text in Small Basic

4.Save all text in Small Basic as OK.smallbasic

Small Basic 0.9 uses .smallbasic extension instead of “.sb” to avoid conflicts with MIT’s Scratch.

Then A message is displayed. The message means that OK.sb has been on the desktop. Overwrite it or not?

In this forum, I notice that other people don't have this problem. Only I have this problem.

  • i noticed the above and I don't think it is a big deal.

Big change that I noticed is that if you create a label now it does not have to be on the background it can now be stacked on multiple objects and everything behaves as it should!

Where are you going next with smallbasic?  Will it become verison 1.0 beta or is there going to be more development and several more versions before a release version?

The other thing, and I mentioned this on fremies latest thread, would it be possible to automatically append an extension;s filename as a prefix in smallbasic.  For example Bobs.dll would become Bobs.mymethod, Bobs.functiona etc.  Would permently solve the naming problems in extensions.

    Many Thanks!

  • Can we classify this as a feature? While I would prefer a shorter extension, I have problem with the change to .smallbasic.  I do however have 18 months of student projects and test programs scattered across my computer, I would really really like it if Smallbasic would continue to show the .sb files when ever the file picker box is opened.

  • I think we are all in the boat with the same problem! Thought occurs though that it would not be that hard to write a smallbasic program to scan a hard drive and rename .sb to .smallbasic !
