how to know the number of FPS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    My question is:

is there any command type or a way to know or display the number of depth frames/s i'm using in my application.

I read that when using resolution 640x480 or 320x240 then  Fps=30

when using 1280x960 then Fps =12

but how to be sure of these values ?

can i change the Fps ?

i'm working with Kinect for win 1.7 and vs c# 2012

    thanks for any explanation

  • The only guarantee is that the device is providing the frames. There are other factors between the application and the device that can change the effective frame rate for your application. How the operating system is getting the data from the driver and controlling runtime, as well as, other performance factors of any system. These will affect whether you are getting that framerate in your application.

So if you change the resolution of the color frame to 1280x960 you are guaranteed to only get 12fps from the device. In your application, how you process these frames will behave differently on a low end machine vs. a higher end pc. The samples provided in the toolkit, provide a method of producing an effective framerate from the application for both managed (WPF) and unmanaged (D2D).
