Export Wizard running incredibly slow RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

    We are running SQL Server 2008 on Windows Server 2008 R2.  Exporting records to an Excel file using the Export Wizard had been running very quickly until the last week or so.  Now it is pushing out records to the file at the rate of about 100 every couple of seconds.  When you are trying to push out 50000 records, this takes an extremely long time.  It has to either be a configuration issue of some sort.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Hi grhomm,

    I would suggest you find out what has changed since then. And how much memory is available, also try disabling antivirus scan in that directory.

    Next determine if any SPs are not missing.

    Then make sure the conn string to Excel is set with IMEX=1 (import mode);

    If the above does not apply, start adding logging to see what step takes so long. And also share what is involved in the export process.
