WFP filters to block all url and permit specific url for browser RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All/Dusty,

    I try the http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wfp/thread/61349463-516a-4c41-bda3-fa2993d06a0e,
and I found that using IP address (ex. http://76.162.165.113)  in web browser, it works.
However, I use url (ex. http://www.techendeavour.com) in web browser, and it doesn't works.
How do I solve this problem? thanks.

  • You will need a mechanism that allows you to add URL filters based off of IP Addresses.  Currently WFP does not offer this mechanism.  The main problem I see for this is the dependence of DNS resolution, and reliance that the DNS entry is not stale.

Probably the simplest method of doing this would be to call the DNSQuery() API to retrieve the IP Address of the URL.  From this you can create the filter.

    Hope this helps.
