What can a publishing page do that a wiki page cannot ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to create a site with pages that should be approved by a group of people before publishing. Initially I thought I should go for publishing page as I believed  only publishing page can use workflows but later I found the wiki page has also got the workflow feature. if it is so, what is the main difference between these pages. Any help is much appreciated.

  • Hi Kirup,

Following are the major differences between Wiki Pages and Publishing Pages:

    • Publishing pages have page layouts conataining web part zones. Wiki pages are mostly unstructured.
    • You add web parts in WP zones to add content to the page in Publishing page. Wiki pages have rich editor where you can add your content in wiki mode.

    I hope it helps you.
