using System center Ops Manager to monitor remote connect devices from azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi we have several hundred sites all across north america - from PCs, handheld devices, embedded devices, printers connected to PC etc., we don't have centralized server to monitor these devices today - we don't know if they are connected, off-line, inventory there of etc., remote sites are loosely connected to corp data center - besides in the remote site, the devices are rather "dumb" devices but has win embed os on most of them.  We are thinking of a hosted SCOM (potentially azure) to monitor these devices.

question - given large volume of devices spread across geography (within US), what would an approach..

could we get several SCOM server installed for e.g. few in east, central and west?

what would be minimum bandwidth requirements for SCOM - could 100 mbps be sufficient per 1 SCOM hosted server that will connect with say 20 sites within region!

we have about 1000 mobile devices as well that we need to integrate with Config mngr.. How could we go about it.  Any ideas would be very helpful.. we are looking at expressRoute to connect azure with sites to minimize latency would that be a good option vs VPN?

If we were to swith out network - exchange provider or network service provider would be a better option ?
