Add context menu items to Windows Explorer

    Question

  • It seems that Windows Store apps do not support the Shell development, so there is no way for a WS app to add items to Windows Explorer context menu (i.e. the menu shown upon right-clicking a folder or file). Could any one confirm this?

I know one can declare a file type association to add the app to the "open with..." menu.

  • Correct. Windows Store apps cannot affect the system as a whole. They cannot write to the registry and they cannot extend the shell.
