TCP Provider: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

    Question

  • Hi

I am getting the below error when running a SSIS package from SQL agent job(hosted on SQL server 2014). The package is just to collect DB name from master database on SQL server 2016 Std edition and insert into a table in master on the same SQL server 2016.

I have check several areas (such as TCP/IP enabled, firewall, port 1433 and so on..) but still getting issues. I have also patched SP2 to SQL server 2016 to see whether it helps but it's not.

The package works when I run on my local machine but not from SQL agent job on SQL server 2014. I have played with DelayValidation setting to True, EncryptSensitiveWithPassword/ UserKey in SSIS pacakge. I even tried with MSDTC configuration but still no luck.

    Any help would be appreciated.
