Azure Blob Storage : Restoring data and log files from Azure blob to DR server RRS feed

  • Can anyone please help me with the steps to be followed for restoring data and log files kept on Azure Blob storage from DC server to DR server ?

    I have created SAS and credential on DR still unable to restore data on DR.

    restore job for logshipping is failing with below error:

    Error :

    BackupDiskFile::OpenMedia: Backup device 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL13.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup\https://bloblssbstorage.blob.core.windows.net/bloblsscontainer\LOGSHIPDR_BizTalkDTADb_Full_BTS_2019_06_24_10_15_00_313.bak' failed to open. Operating system error 123(The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.).

  • Got answer from Microsoft on this.Restore from Azure blob storage to DR through BizTalk logshipping is not supported yet.

  • Have you tried restoring the file from Azure blob storage directly ? There is a tutorial on how to do it here , the section related to the solution can be seen as below: 

    RESTORE DATABASE [SQLTestDB] 
    FROM URL = 'https://msftutorialstorage.blob.core.windows.net/sql-backup/SQLTestDB.bak' 
    WITH CREDENTIAL = 'mycredential',
    STATS = 5 -- use this to see monitor the progress
    GO
