Can't Disassociate Public IP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have Azure Stack version 1805. I want to diassociate  public ip from VM. I got error message like this:

I red from this documentation that disassociate public ip is not supported: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-stack/azure-stack-update-1805

So, how to remove the public ip from VM?

    Thanks.

Answers

  • Yes. it’s a known issue as mentioned the same document you are referring to.

“After a VM is created and associated with a public IP address, you can't disassociate that VM from that IP address. Disassociation appears to work, but the previously assigned public IP address remains associated with the original VM.”

So, you must use only new public IP addresses for new VMs you create. Or if feasible you could delete the existing VM (retaining the vhd).
Note: Ensure that you are only deleting the unwanted VMs.

Reference: Provision virtual machine disk storage in Azure Stack
