Advantages of developing using Cinder or OpenFrameworks vs Unity RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Tasked with creating an application which will track up to 6 users and display a live video feed showing 'speech bubbles' over the tracked users.

Are there any advantages in developing in Cinder-OpenFrameworks over Unity?

  • Hi there,

The answer to this is going to depend a lot on your previous experience. Game engines like Unity offload a lot of the underlying functionality (physics, cameras, environment design, etc) but are a little harder to completely customize. There are free assets for working with Kinect in Unity, so you might have an easier time integrating the functionality into your app.  Using something like Cinder or OpenFrameworks will give you more fine-tuned control over what you build, but you'll also have to integrate everything in yourself which could be more challenging depending on your background.
