ODBC Microsoft Access Setup RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to connect to a 2010 Access db with ODBC Microsoft Access Setup. When I have finished building it and then test it that fails. When I go back and try to repair or compact it says it cannot find the file because it has added the .mdb extension behind the .acccb extension. I am testing the connection with Dreamweaver CS5. It worked when I had office 2010 32bit. When I try other variations I get [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]Data source name not found and no default driver specified. I am really getting tired of seeing that one. What started this was when I converted my Office 2010 from 32 bit to 64 bit that broke my .asp pages. Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • My goal is all applications using 64 bit as that is the wave of the future.

  • Although you can see 64 bit DSNs from 32 bit ODBC functions, Office 2010 64 bit does not support 32 bit ODBC and you will get this kind of failure if you try. Go back to Office 32 bit if you want to access from 32 bit applications.
