Database roles in SQL 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using the reporting tool SEQUEL, and I need to have this tool see more than just the default database that the user "Maint" has been assigned too.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to give this user these rights so it can see mulitple databases at one time.

    Thank You

  • Hi,

I don't know anything much about the SEQUEL tool that you are using but you should be able to grant the reporting user access to any of the databases that it needs to access such as: -

    use YOURDBNAME
    go
    exec sp_addrolemember db_datareader, YOURREPORTUSERNAME
    go

  • Not sure about that tool if it's in SSMS you need to have access to all the database or else you need to have VIEW ANY DEFINITION server level permission
