I was attempting to install SQL Server 2008 on my newly built Windows Server 2008 R2 X64 system. I initially received an error that said "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installation has failed" SQL Server 2008 Setup requires ...
Next, I attempted to download 3.5 and install it and received a message that I would need to install the Role. So, I enabled the role and .NET Frameowrk 3.5.1, Windows Process Activation Service Support and HTTP Activation, TCP Activation, and Named
Pipes Activation were installed as a result. (Or so I think)
I tried to run the SQL 2008 installer again and ran into the error.
So, I downloaded dotnetfx35.exe (for .NET Framework 3.5 SP1) -- the full version and I attempted to install it as administrator. It looks like it unpacks the files, but then it just stops with no message. I don't think it ever installs anything.
I cannot seem to get around this. Can you guys please provide some guidance?
