.NET Framework 3.5 installation has failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Server is running Server 2008 Enterprise SP1 64 bit processor.

I am trying to run the SQL server installation center add feature module to add the managment tools.

When I run the SQL add features i get an error message ".net framework 3.5 installation has failed. SQL server 08 requires .net framework to be installed."

In server manager features it says " .NET Framework 3.5.1 features, WCF activation, http activation, non-http activation." under program and features it says ".NET framework 4 client profile, .NET framework 4 extended."

I have tried running the 3.5 setup.exe fie from MS site but it seems to just extract and doesn't install anything. I have also tried upgrading the windows installer to 4.5 but it say there's not enough storage available to process this command, but there is over 200GB free on the HDD.

Anyone know how to fix this?
