TFS Portal Site Redirect RRS feed

  • Question

  • The project portal was setup using http://xxxx.company.com/sites/Projects

When you go to connect visual studio to the url default is setup to be used as http://xxxx/sites/Projects.

How do I set this up to redirect to http://xxxx.company.com/sites/Projects so that VS is connected to the sharepoint portal.

    TFS and Sharepoint 2013.

  • Hi BossHogg20,

    Thanks for your reply.

To manually install and configure SharePoint 2013 for TFS 2013, please refer to the detailed steps in these documents: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd578615(v=vs.120).aspx.

Once we created correct SharePoint Web Application for TFS, we should configure the Web Application in TFS Admin Console>>Application Tier>>SharePoint Web Applications, and we need configure the Extensions for SharePoint Products first.

  • Hi BossHogg20,

    Thanks for your post.

This is team project site or collection site?

To reconfigure team project site, connect team project using Team Explorer>>Settings>>Portal Settings, reconfigure this site for your team project in the opened Project Portal Settings dialog.

To reconfigure collection site, you need open TFS Admin Console>>Application Tier>>Team Project Collections, select your collection and click SharePoint Site tab to reconfigure.

  • Please look at the URL differences in the original post. You can not add it they way I was asking in the Portal setting because it automatically adds the '/' for you. So if the server name is 'xxx' and you start adding '.company' it has xxx/.company.

The sharpoint project collection portal has it created one way, so I want to redirect the default TFS URL to the new site.

Under Portal Settings, if you select 'Use a Web Site', then it doesn't allow you to save documents from the VS application.

  • Hi BossHogg20,

    Thanks for your reply.

How did you create this http://xxx.company.com/sites/Project? If you manually open this site in IE, it’s a team project portal and can be opened correctly?

If you want configure another portal to team project, you ensure this portal is correct team project site first.

  • Mostly by going thru this article

    http://sharepointgeorge.com/2012/create-web-application-site-collection-sharepoint-2013-preview/

Is there a way to have the link redirect, or do I have to recreate the site using a different method?
