“Kinect for Xbox One” with Windows via an adapter? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Well, I live in Argentina and the Kinect for Windows is really hard to obtain. I want to use it to do same basic facial animation in “Cinema 4D”.

Therefore, I'd like to know the following:

    1) Can I use the “Kinect for Xbox One” with Windows via an adapter?

    2) What's the difference between “Kinect for Windows” and “Kinect for Xbox One”?

    3) Which programs can I use to animate facial expressions for FBX-files via the Kinect in order to use them within “Cinema 4D”?

    Thank you!

  • 1. Yes, that is recommended way of using a Kinect sensor on Windows. The adaptor and Xbox One sensor are fully supported for Kinect for Windows v2 development.

    2. In terms of Kinect for Windows v2 SDK development, there are no functional differences. They operate the same.

    3. Not sure, you will have to either create that functionality yourself as a plug-in or find a plug-in vendor that already provides this type of functionality to see if they support the sensor as a capture point in their software.
