Can a portable class library be referenced in Javascript Windows Store App RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to reference a .NET target framework assembly in my JavaScript app. Since Windows Runtime Component does not help, I have created a Portable class library which inturn references the dlls which is built on .NET target framework.

Is this a right approach? If not what could be the better approach?

Also how to reference Portable class library in a Windows store JavaScript app? It gives me the following error: Confirm unsupported reference(s). One or more of the selected items is not a valid reference for this type of projects.

  • You cannot reference a Portable Class Library from a JavaScript project.  JavaScript Windows Store projects can only reference SDKs or Windows Runtime components (WinRT dlls).  If what you want to use in the portable class library is not supported in a WinRT library, than it is not supported in a JavaScript project.
