Performance objects all become numbers in "Add Counters" dialog box RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

When I used "perfmon" to open Performance Monitor and tried to use "Add" button to add monitoring object, all performance objects in "Add Counters" dialog box just were "numbers: (or IDs?), not their supposed forms "names".

If they are all numerical forms, I cannot identify which performance object to use to monitor, say CPU/memory/disk usage.

BTW The OS of the problematic server is Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

you can try to r-register (regsvr32.exe /i) the related libaries from the perfmon.exe.

    e.g.

    C:\Windows\System32\PerfCenterCPL.dll
    C:\Windows\System32\perfctrs.dll
    C:\Windows\System32\perfdisk.dll
