Using a SynchronizationContext instead of the WinFormsServicePort RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any reason not to use a SynchronizationContext to interop with the Main UI thread instead of the WinFormsServicePort? My issues is that I have a legacy application which I want to integrate into it a DSS host. The problem with using the WinFormsServicePort is that I have to start the entire application as a service and launch the UI from the service. While this worked it adds risk and complication both of which I was having a hard time defending. I using a SynchronizationContext initialized on the main thread to invoke the method call from the DSS thread to the "Main UI" thread. From my testing, today using a SynchronizationContext appears to work.

Is there any non-obvious issue in using a SynchronizationContext?

    Thanks

  • Bump, I've been using this method without any obvious problems but does anyone know of other issues with this method?
