Do we set the permissions or restrict the user on Database views instead of seeing all projects. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We have created a Database view to see list of projects against the EPT in Project center by Excel using Odata.  It looks like any user can see all projects listed within Database view.  But when they look at their project center view, they can only see what they have access to in the system.

Can we set or restrict the permissions to the user to see only what they have supposed to see as they accessed.

    Thanks,

    Keerthi.

  • Not that I know of. However if you use PSI or CSOM then the access rights are handled automatically.

You could limit based on the project managers name or some other value in a project level custom field?

  • Hi Keerthi,

Rod is correct, OData does not restrict permissions to the projects in the same way the Project Center does.

  • Hi Keerthi,

we've had several customers requiring security trimmed reports based on Project Permissions model. This can be achived by utilizing custom function in the Project DB, but it requires some knowlege and off course it's not supported by MS :-). If this is somethng you wish to explore, try using SQL Profiler when opening ProjectCenter and this should get you started...
