Visual Studio 2012 Remote Application Debugging RRS feed

    Greetings fellow engineers,

I currently have a problem trying to connect my (*licensed) Visual Studio 2012  Professional to an MVC 3 Web Application using the Remote Debugger that is "suppose" to work. I've followed instructions on MSDN and have installed the Remote Debugger on the remote server running the MVC Application on the IIS 8 Server. I also have another copy of the application on a shared folder just in case I can only connect that way but then again that defeats the whole purpose of remotely debugging if you can't do it on an app running remotely on IIS in the first place. As an engineer, it doesn't matter what we produce without documentation. No one will know how to use what you've made unless you've made a detailed walk-through on how it works and how it doesn't work. I need some screen shots of someone who knows how to setup VS2012 Remote Application Debugging from start to finish with the end result being a connection to a remote server hosting an application on IIS. Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi -E3-

Sorry for the issue that you are hitting.

First you should check whether it meets the requirement before you set up remote debugging in Visual Studio 2012,

The remote device and the Visual Studio computer must be connected over a network or connected directly through an Ethernet cable.

The remote device must be running the remote debugging components.

You must be an administrator to install the remote debugger on the remote device. To communicate with the remote debugger, you must have user access to the remote device.

and then you could follow the steps to set up remote debugging in VS 2012,

    Installing the Remote Debugger

    Configuring the remote debugger

Running the remote debugging components from a share

    For reference - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bt727f1t.aspx

At the same time if you have any problem during you set up remote debugging, please let me know.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    hope it helps you,

    Kind regards
