Deleting an outdated Business location that shows up in Bing search results RRS feed

  • Question

  • My client purchased an online business that was previously located in NJ and has been relocated to NC. The prior owner ran the business out of her home, and wants her home residence information (address and phone #) deleted from the Bing search results. We have tried filling out the Bing form stating that the business has closed - for a few days thereafter, the search results still showed the former owner's address and phone number, but it also stated that the location was closed. A few days later, however, the "closed" designation was gone, and the prior owner's address and phone # continued to appear in the search results.

My client established her own Bing business account under the business name, and her correct business and contact information now appears in the Bing search results. But the prior owner's personal information also continues to appear under the name of the business, and there doesn't seem to be a way to completely delete it and disassociate it from the business as currently owned and operated.

We have made numerous requests to Bing via the forms available to suggest changes. The changes are never implemented. Please advise how to go about making this change on a permanent basis. We have been trying for months, to no avail.

P.S. - we were able to make the same change on Google within a couple of days. It required contacting a third-party who originally set up the listing for the business in order to request site access to make the change, but the access was granted and we were able to make the change ourselves. There doesn't seem to be any kind of similar process to follow on Bing, and the amount of time we have wasted trying to implement a relatively simple change is incredibly frustrating.

  • Hi FSKS,

You are asking about Bing Search data on the Maps forum so I can only give you the Bing Maps answer.  However, as a Business, you likely have a relationship with Microsoft.  If you have not already signed up through Bing Ads, I recommend filling out the form at https://secure.bingads.microsoft.com/signup?mkt=en-us&adv_market=en-us&s_int=en_us_acsignup_acquisitionbingads. At the top right corner there is a Chat option and a phone number for help on setting up your account. They should be able to walk through your ownership of the business and help set that up for you.
