Cannot upgrade to office javascript API 1.1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we are two developers working on an app for Office. We share a similar config (VS2013 professional) except for the OS. We use the same code source (checked by Version control system). One of the installation cannot start the app for office within VisualStudio after migration to 1.1 API (it worked while we were with 1.0 API).

    We followed the instructions here

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn535869(v=office.15).aspx

One of the station (the one with Win7, the other is Win8.1) cannot start the AppForOffice. See screeshot below.

On the problematic computer, the VS update has been successfully installed (link provided in page mentioned above) and the office1.1 schema is found by VisualStudio.

Do you have any idea how could we overcome this problem?

    Sincerely

    Benoit

  • Hi Benoit,

Do you have Service Pack 1 for Office 2013 installed?  Only Office 2013 SP1 can support a 1.1 manifest.

    Hope this helps,

    - Michael

  • Hi Michael,

Indeed, we have skipped the excel 2013 SP1 part. The problematic configuration did not have the SP1 pack.

In addition, we also faced a weird problem at the same time. We could not load any longer any app from the Office store even those which worked before (I mean before the upgrade and the VS 2012 install). The app keeps loading within the tasp pane or the content frame without finishing...

After a repair of both Excel and Visual studio and the install of the SP1 pack for Excel everything works like a charm now. This might help someone in the future.

    Thank you.
