verify digital signature of an exe-file from a trusted publisher RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

i have an application which calls other exe-files which are signed by microsoft and so forth.
For my own scripts i have used system.security.cryptography to create and comare an md5-sum.
I was hoping that with .net 3.5 there is a way to get this done easily - the only thing i have found is a dll-import of wintrust.dll and about 300 lines of code - i just wanted to know if you have a more elegant way of working with this.
Here's the link to the dll-import-method
    http://www.pinvoke.net/default.aspx/wintrust.winverifytrust

I tried calling the sign-tool which gives me "The sigining certificate is not valid for the requested usage" when i am trying to verify the certificate from the sysinternals process-explorer for example.
