Unable to create PDF in Excel using office.js RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm developing an Excel add-in using office.js. It seems that the Office.context.document.getFileAsync API method is not supported in the Excel desktop version, and i need to get a (workbook) PDF created and uploaded to my server.
Is there another way or a workaround to do this?

Yes, Document.getFileAsync method is not supported in the Excel desktop version.

For more information, please refer about Document.getFileAsync method

But the Office Add-in is a web application, you could use any technologies, both client and server side, that your hosting provider supports (such as ASP.net, PHP, or Node.js).
